December 2007
TÜV approval for LaserGas II SP
The LaserGas II SP has recently achieved German TÜV approval for NH3+H2O. The requirements of guidelines EN 14181 and EN 14956 are implemented in the approval.
Our certified measurement ranges are
- 0 - 10 mg/m3 and 0 - 15 mg/m3 for NH3 and
- 0 - 30 %vol and 0 - 50 %vol for H2O.
To our knowledge the LaserGas II SP is the first laser-based analyser
that has been awarded TÜV approval for the very low NH3 measurement
ranges as commonly found in DeNOx (Ammonia slip) applications.

LaserGas Dual Path (DP) analysers discontinued
As of 15 October 2007 the LaserGas I DP and LaserGas II DP analysers
have been discontinued. These analysers had been designed for
continuous emission monitoring applications, where regular validation
(zero and span check) of the analyser performance was required. With
the DP analysers this validation could be done on the stack. For
these applications we now offer the LaserGas II SP. We have upgraded
this analyser to include automatic zero and span check functionality
as option. Note that we of course continue to service and support
our installed base of DP analysers.

Successful evaluation of the LaserGas II SP by EPRI
The LaserGas II SP has successfully participated in a lab test verification by the Electrical Power Research Institute (EPRI) in the USA. The objective of the test,
carried out at the University of California Riverside was to evaluate the LaserGas II SP over a range of Ammonia concentrations, temperatures, and moisture levels
commensurate with flue gas conditions at the economizer outlet of a coal fired boiler. Amongst the four laser-based analysers tested the LaserGas II SP was "best in test"
when it comes to minimum detection limit and average precision.
A summary of the test report is available on request.

LaserGas II SP Compact released
Based on the well-known LaserGas II SP this analyser is even more compact. It has specifically been designed for trace level measurement of atmospheric gases
(e.g. H2O, CO2, or O2), measurement across thin pipes (diameter down to 10 cm) and gas detection on measurement cells. This analyser features a focused laser
beam so that it can measure through very thin nozzles (< 10 mm diameter). Thus, for applications with continuous purge to prevent dust from settling on the windows
the SP compact will require very small purge flow (< 150 l/hour per flange). The LaserGas II SP Compact has already found wide acceptance in the German car industry
for fast in-situ ppm NH3 measurement across exhaust pipes of engine test stands.More product data and specifications may be
found here.
December 2006 New gases VCM and Formaldehyde
NEO Monitors AS has extended its range of gases to also cover Vinyl Monomer Chloride (VCM)
and Formaldehyde (CH2O). These gases are available for our complete LaserGas II product line
(Single Path, Open Path, and Multipass).
We can offer the following detection limits (specified for 1 m path, 25 degC, and 1 bar abs):
VCM 10 ppm
CH2O 1 ppm
Please contact us with your VCM or Formaldehyde applications.
November 2006 LaserGas I HCl awarded MCERTS
We are proud to announce that the LaserGas I HCl has been awarded MCERTS approval
with certified measurement ranges of 0 – 15 mg/m3 and 0 – 90 mg/m3. To our knowledge it

on the Sira Env. homepage at http://www.sira.co.uk/MCERTS/MCERTSCertifiedProductsCEMS.pdf .
The LaserGas I HCl has carried TUV approval since 1999
(see http://www.umweltbundesamt.de/messeinrichtungen/moemi4.pdf), and has been successfully
installed in many CEM applications. More information about the LaserGas I is provided
